INTRODUCTION

Save the Children has been working in Rwanda since 1994 in partnership with the Government of Rwanda (GoR) and local stakeholders to promote a bright future for children. We have experience working in all 30 districts across the country. The main areas of focus are education, child protection, child rights governance, and health and nutrition in humanitarian and development contexts.

Package Offer: Concessional loans ranging from RWF 5,000,000 to RWF 30,000,000 and wrap-around services for businesses.

Kumwe Hub is an African-focused innovative finance and impact investment intermediary within Save the Children based in Rwanda. We support the growth, success, and sustainability of local businesses who are having a positive impact on children.

Inkomoko empowers Micro and Small Entrepreneurs across Africa, including refugees, through capacity building, access to finance, market linkages, and advocacy. As the largest lender to refugees on the continent, we provide affordable financing to businesses, fuelling growth, job creation, and improved livelihoods.

Kumwe Hub has partnered with Inkomoko to support small businesses and start-ups through the Child Lens Investment Fund, by offering low-cost loans and a tailored package of wrap-around business services that include technical support, business advisory, and mentorship. This third cohort is focused on businesses that are working in the sector of health, nutrition, early childhood innovative educational materials, and child welfare. Successful applicants will join a network of Rwandan businesses that impact the lives of children.

Who Should Apply?

Small businesses with a proven track record or clear potential for making a positive difference in children, in the areas of health, nutrition, early childhood innovative educational materials, and child welfare but are restrained by the lack of appropriate financing or other business development support to grow and increase their impact on the lives of children.

Eligibility criteria?

  • Child-focused business / Child product or service line.
  • Relevant legally registered business
  • Offer products or services in the sector of health, nutrition, early childhood innovative educational materials, and child welfare.
  • Clearly demonstrate how the concessional loan will positively impact your business, and eventually, the children you are serving.
  • Be a local business with operations based in Rwanda and products or services accessed by communities in Rwanda.
  • Have at least one year of evidence in business operation.
