Consultancy Opportunity in Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) / Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE)

Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE), is one of the strategic approaches that LeadCom applies. It involves the systematic exchange of information and active engagement with communities to help them understand and manage risks. RCCE is applied in various areas, particularly in public health emergencies such as outbreaks of infectious diseases like Mpox, COVID-19, Ebola, and influenza.

LeadCom is seeking qualified candidates for a consultancy role specializing in Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) and Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE).

Job Details

The consultant will contribute to planning for, and executing LeadCom’s SBC / RCCE activities. She / he will contribute to drafting and producing SBC / RCCE materials and tools such as strategies, action plans and implementation templates; conducting rapid community assessments; planning for/ and implementing SBC / RCCE training events and webinars; maintaining contacts with SBC/ RCCE partners; as well as producing the LeadCom’s Newsletter and other online periodicals. The consultant will also facilitate translation of communication materials into Kinyarwanda and/ or Kiswahili languages.

Specific Tasks

Under the supervision of the LeadCom’s Managing Director, the RCCE Consultant will work closely with other staff and associates to specifically carry out the following tasks:

  1. Support the conceptualization, development and implementation of SBC/ RCCE strategies and plans.
  2. Conceptualize and facilitate production of SBC / RCCE materials. This includes – but not limited to – the following;
    • Ensuring that the contents of the produced materials are aligned with national and international plans, policies and guidelines, and;
    • Ensuring that the information is accurate and the language is correct.
    • Conducting pre testing for all produced materials.
    • Facilitating translation (where needed) into Kinyarwanda and / or Kiswahili.
  3. Plan for/ and support the implementation of SBC / RCCE webinars.
  4. Plan for and support implementation of 2 SBC/ RCCE training of trainers (ToT) events targeting SBC/ communication officers, healthcare providers and journalists.
  5. Draft the contents of the LeadCom’s online newsletter.
  6. Update and maintain LeadCom’s contacts with SBC / RCCE partners including relevant government agencies, UN, I/NGOs, CBOs and the private sector.

Education and Experience

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in communication, social mobilization, behavioural science, or other SBC-related field.
  2. At least 3 – 7 years’ relevant experience on health promotion, SBC, RCCE and Social mobilization.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of SBC principles; and experience with collecting data and designing evidence-based SBC/ RCCE strategies and plans.
  4. Good knowledge of English and Kinyarwanda languages
  5. Proven experience in writing / editing documents produced in English.
