HIRING AN ARABIC INTERPRETER FOR GASHORA ETM

With the purpose of promoting living conditions of evacuees from Libya hosted in Gashora ETM, World Vision Rwanda is implementing WASH, Education, and Livelihood to Refugees, returnees, asylum seekers, and host community project in Gashora ETM under the UNHCR fund in the year 2024. The people hosted in Gashora ETM come from different countries, including Eritrea, Soudan, South-Soudan, Ethiopia, Somalia and etc…, the majority of them don’t speak any international language, like English or French, then for them to be properly served, there is always a need of an interpreter to facilitate the communication for the smooth implementation of project activities

World Vision, seeks to recruit Arabic interpreter who will facilitate the communication for the implementation of all components of World Vision Rwanda in Gasora ETM on daily basis for a period of starting from the date of signing the contract to 31st December 2024.

Purpose of the position/Key Responsibilities:

  1. Listen carefully to what the speaker is saying.
  2. Assimilate speakers’ words quickly, including jargon and acronyms.
  3. Reproduce what has been said in Arabic to English and Vice-versa to facilitate the work at the field.
  4. Use equipment such as microphones and headsets where appropriate
  5. Being flexible to interpret in Livelihood, Education and WASH activities in GASHORA ETM
  6. Support in the awareness raising campaigns that may occur to engage People of Concern in different activities
  7. Build trust with people of concern and accurately interpreting their concerns and questions
  8. Acting as a liaison between Person of concern and World Vision staff and teachers in different vocational skills to ensuring accurate communication.
  9. Maintain impartiality, confidentiality, and professional conduct at all times

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, and prior experience or on- job training:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in languages, communications or in any other related field.
  2. Proficiency in translation and interpretation for Arabic to English and vice-versa
  3. Verbal and written communication skills for English and Arabic languages
  4. 2 years of experience in translation and interpretation of Arabic language
  5. Excellent active listening skills to accurately interpret spoken Arabic language
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.
  7. Being ready and available to go in Gashora ETM within the fixed period in the contract.

Scope of the work

The interpreter to be recruited will perform his/her duties in GASHORA ETM, he/she will facilitate the work for WASH, Livelihood and Education according to the schedule of activities at the field.

Duration

The service will be provided starting upon the date of signing of the agreement up to 31th December 2024, with possibility of being renewed upon the availability of fundings

 Eligibility for Application

All Rwandans (Individuals/Technicians) that fulfill the required experience and qualifications are allowed to apply.
