About Isomo Academy

Isomo Academy is an intensive English training and college preparatory program aimed at equipping Rwanda’s top high school graduates with the necessary skills to compete for university scholarships globally. Within this program, the Test Prep Teacher plays a pivotal role by providing expert SAT preparation that empowers these students to excel in their pursuit of international educational opportunities.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Test Prep and English Instructor to join our team. This role involves designing and teaching SAT courses for Isomo Academy students who recently graduated high school and GRE and GMAT courses for the Isomo Graduate School Program for adults. The position also requires teaching English for various interdisciplinary projects within Isomo, including educational initiatives related to science, math, and technology. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of these exams, innovative teaching methodologies, and a passion for educational excellence across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Prep Curriculum Development: Design engaging and effective test prep curricula (SAT, GRE, and GMAT) tailored to the needs of students at various skill levels.
  • Interdisciplinary Curriculum Development: Develop and enhance English instructional content for interdisciplinary courses related to science, math, and
    technology.
  • Teaching: Deliver high-quality, engaging instructional sessions in both group and individual settings for standardized test prep and English language projects.
  • Data Tracking and Analysis: Implement systems to track student performance data, analyze trends, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly across all subjects taught.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the courses and make data-driven recommendations for improvements in both test preparation and general English instruction.
  • Student Guidance and Support: Provide students with academic counseling, test-taking strategies, and support in English language proficiency. Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages questions and discussions across subjects.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other faculty members and administrative staff to align educational goals and optimize student outcomes in all subject areas.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in test preparation, English education, and interdisciplinary teaching strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proven experience in teaching SAT, GRE, GMAT, or similar standardized tests, as well as in teaching English, particularly in an interdisciplinary context.
  • Strong understanding of the content, structure, and scoring methodologies of the SAT, GRE, and GMAT.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong grasp of English grammar and composition.
  • Ability to utilize technology and various teaching platforms effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to design curriculum and teach in a way that is both accessible and challenging.
