RSOG works in collaboration with healthcare facilities and other organizations to improve maternal and reproductive health outcomes across Rwanda. We are currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Obstetrician and Gynecologist to join our team and serve at Nyagatare District Hospital.
Job Summary
The Obstetrician and Gynecologist will play a key role in delivering quality reproductive and maternal health services at Nyagatare District Hospital. This position involves the management of pregnancy, labor, and delivery, as well as diagnosing and treating disorders related to the female reproductive system. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care and support RSOG’s mission to improve reproductive health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Provide high-quality obstetric and gynecological services, including prenatal, antenatal, and postnatal care, as well as labor and delivery management.
- Surgical Procedures: Perform gynecological surgeries, cesarean sections, and other procedures as needed.
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose and treat gynecological disorders and provide counseling for reproductive health, family planning, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with nurses, midwives, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care.
- Education and Training: Provide training and support to medical staff, including resident students, interns, and junior doctors, to enhance the quality of obstetric and gynecological care.
- Community Health: Participate in community outreach programs to improve awareness and access to maternal health services.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and complete medical records in accordance with hospital policies and prepare reports for RSOG and Nyagatare District Hospital management as required.
Qualifications
- Education: A Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology from a recognized institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in obstetrics and gynecology, with hands-on experience in managing both high-risk and routine cases.
- Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in Medicine
Skills:
- Strong clinical and surgical skills in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care.
Languages: Proficiency in English. Knowledge of Kinyarwanda is an advantage.
