The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working in Rwanda for more than 40 years.Rwanda is a country with a turbulent and, at times, tragic history, and the impact of the 1994 genocide is still felt today. Nevertheless, Rwanda has achieved progress at a number of levels since 2000. Stability, security, steady economic growth and low corruption are some of the key successes. The country is also regarded as a pioneer in Africa in environmental protection, digitalisation and gender equality.Despite these encouraging developments, however, Rwanda is still a very poor country that continues to rely on international support. This support is in virtually all sectors and is coordinated by the Rwandan Government. As a reliable partner in an efficient task-sharing system, GIZ works in three priority areas on behalf of the German Government:

GIZ Rwanda/Burundi implements projects on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the European Union and other commissioning authorities in the following priority areas: Sustainable Economic Development, Good Governance, Climate, Energy and Sustainable Urban Development, Digitalization and Digital Economy, Mineral Governance, Peace, and Security in the Great Lakes Region.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is currently implementing its project Digital4Rwanda in Rwanda. As part of this project GIZ intends to award a contract for Refurbishment- Cyber Hub Project with NCSA at UR– College of Science and Technology (former KIST, Kigali, Rwanda. The scope of work includes:
- Partitioning and refurbishment of the following space:
- Interior of the building
- Toilets
- Outside backspace of the building
- Outside front space of the building
Tender procedure from invitation to tender until signing of contract is expected to take place between October 2024 and December 2024. Refurbishment work is expected to be performed and completed approximately within 2 months from signing of contract.
To qualify for consideration in the tender procedure, interested companies are required to submit the following information and documents for eligibility assessment:
- Official letter expressing interest
- Company details including full company name, full address, phone and email
- RDB company registration certificate
- VAT registration certificate
- Valid tax clearance certificate
- Certificate / Authorization from the Institute of Architects or Institute of Engineers
- Company profile including number of employees (permanent / temporary in total) and number of professional staff qualified to perform the works, each for the last three (3) years
- CVs of at least 5 proposed experts/employees expected to perform the assignment.
- At least 5 references of works of similar nature as specified above (performed within the last three (3) years) proven by copies of completion certificates.
- Total value of works of similar nature as specified above (for each of the last three (3) years)
- Annual total turnover for each of the last three (3) years
- Evidence of ownership of equipment and machinery necessary to execute the works or evidence of possibility to hire the same.
Interested applicants should be available for a site visit at University of Rwanda- College of Science and Technology (former KIST) on Friday- August 30th, 2024 10:00am-11:00am CAT.
