Consultancy for Coding services
Background
The Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA) is planning to conduct a baseline survey to gather information and data necessary for developing Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) plans for four catchments in Kirehe and Gakenke districts. This will be followed by creating training modules and materials, as well as training project beneficiaries in Ecosystem-based Adaptation, Climate Smart Agriculture, and Livelihood development, all aimed at climate-proofing and strengthening resilience to extreme weather changes in these areas. A total of 107,000 project beneficiaries in the four catchments of Bukinanyana and Gasharu in Kirehe district and Muramba and Kagano in Gakenke district are expected to be surveyed.
Therefore, RICA is seeking for a software development expert to assist in coding the survey questionnaire for the data collection exercise.
Scope of work
The Software developer Expert is expected to do the following:
- Use software or programming languages compatible with SurveyCTO to design the survey instrument.
- Program the required questions, instructions, answer choices, and logic, ensuring that all options are precisely represented.
- Develop and apply survey logic, including conditional questions and loops, to optimize the flow of questions.
- Set up data validation rules to prevent data entry errors, such as range checks and data-type validations.
- Train data collectors or users on the instrument to ensure they understand how to use it effectively.
- Deploy the coded instrument on relevant devices.
- Set up monitoring mechanisms to track usage and address any issues in real-time during data collection.
- Implement data syncing or backup procedures to ensure data integrity.
- Create procedures for data extraction to ensure that the collected data is properly formatted and integrated for analysis.
Required Expertise
- The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in applying statistical methods and data analysis techniques.
- Ability to develop coding schemes for qualitative data analysis, including thematic coding.
- Possess proved ability in data cleaning, transformation, and storage.
- Familiarity with and the ability to interpret data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, R, Python).
- Experience with using SurveyCTO software.
Preferred Qualifications
- A master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related field, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in software development and programming activities.
- Having proven experience in similar tasks will be considered an advantage.
Duration of the assignment
- The assignment will take a maximum of three weeks from the date the contract is signed.
