Job Overview:

With 12 years of experience identifying, preparing, and guiding top Rwandan students to get access to international education opportunities, Bridge2Rwanda (B2R) is uniquely qualified and positioned to expand its model and services to more Rwandan students. We are a global organization that has worked to build a network of young Africans who, after unlocking their potential from some of the best universities in the world, commit to return and work for the development and prosperity of their countries. Since 2011, we have worked with more than 320 African students who earned admissions and scholarships to more than 80 schools around the world, especially in the United States of America. Our Founder and CEO, Dale Dawson, member of the Rwandan President’s Advisory Council for 15 years now, started our organization with a simple mission: to create opportunities for Rwanda’s most promising students to obtain a global education. As a Scholar Support Coordinator, you will be instrumental in providing comprehensive assistance to students embarking on their academic journey. Your role encompasses academic guidance, mentorship, and facilitating access to resources to ensure our students thrive academically, professionally, and culturally. Most importantly, you will guide the students from the start of their experience with Isomo Graduate School, to their returning back to Rwanda. You will be instrumental in ensuring the students have a great experience in their respective universities and fundamentally crucial in ensuring they come back to Rwanda once graduated.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Academic Guidance and Counseling:
a. Offer personalized academic advising, counseling, and mentorship to students, empowering them to achieve their academic and professional goals.
b. Provide ongoing support to address academic challenges and promote student success.

2. Resource Facilitation:
a. Facilitate access to essential resources, including libraries, research facilities, and student organizations, to enrich students’ learning experience.

3. Extracurricular Coordination:
a. Coordinate diverse extracurricular activities, cultural events, and community engagement initiatives to foster a vibrant student community.

4. Career Development Support:
a. Provide career counseling, job search assistance, and professional development services to students and alumni, equipping them with the skills for future success.

5. Industry Engagement:
a. Facilitate internships, co-op programs, and industry placements to enhance students’ practical skills and industry exposure.
b. Establish strategic partnerships with employers, recruiters, and industry associations to facilitate job placement and networking opportunities for students.

6. Transition Assistance:
a. Assist students in transitioning back to Rwanda after their studies, providing ongoing support and maintaining a strong link with the Rwandan community.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required.
  2. Proven experience in student services, academic advising, or related roles within an educational setting.
  3. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  5. Familiarity with higher education systems and scholarship opportunities preferred.
  6. Passion for empowering students and contributing to Rwanda’s educational advancement.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effectively interpreting student needs, providing guidance, and liaising with various stakeholders.
  8. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others, contributing to team projects and initiatives. This includes active listening, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  9. Proven track record of collaborating with diverse teams to achieve common goals, exhibiting honesty, responsibility, and effective communication throughout the process.
  10. Strong interpersonal skills enabling the building of relationships, resolving conflicts, and handling interactions with students, colleagues, and stakeholders with empathy and professionalism.
  11. Aptitude for continuous learning and adaptability to evolving educational landscapes, demonstrating flexibility, critical thinking, and collaboration in embracing new initiatives and methodologies.
