About the Role
The candidate will be based in our offices in Kigali where one of our subsidiaries, Salvo Grima Rwanda (SGR), was established in 2020, and today employs over 90 team members. SGR is a distribution company and represents a growing number of world-leading manufacturers including Unilever, Danone, British American Tobacco, and Mars Wrigley.
Salvo Grima Rwanda provides an opportunity for energetic Rwandan to Apply for the Post of Senior Accountant, The Senior Accountant will report directly to the General Manager but will also work closely with all other Company’s departments. He/she will supervise the accounting operations, Finance operation team, and the stock controllers.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the overall accounting and Finance of the office, including Financial Reporting. He/she will oversee accounting and financial control systems for Salvo Grima Rwanda and ensure that adequate and appropriate internal controls are in place to meet generally recognized accounting standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Full responsibility of day to day of finance department operations;
- Supervise the maintenance of the subsidiary ledgers and other financial records of one or more business units and ensure the assigned accounting staff meet agreed standards of quality and delivery;
- Assume full responsibility for the preparation of monthly management accounts of assigned companies and submit these within deadline;
- Participate in management board meetings of assigned business units, present management accounts and other financial reports;
- Manage the cash-flow of assigned business units within stated parameters and in coordination with the general managers/heads of assigned business units;
- Prepare and submit all tax returns for assigned companies as well as financial data which may be required from time to time by other bodies and Government departments;
- Support the general managers/heads of assigned business units in setting annual budgets as well as in monitoring and analysing trading performance, operating costs and capital expenditure on regular basis;
- Liaise with the Group’s auditors regards to assigned companies;
- Regularly provide positions and other financial compliance with up-to-date bank balances;
- Contribute to the ongoing development and strengthening of internal controls;
- Reporting accurately and clearly on activities undertaken;
- Ensure the good relationship of company’s stakeholders (banks, Rwanda Revenue Authority(RRA), clients, suppliers and Rwanda Food, Drugs Authority(RFDA),….);
- Ensure all activities related to administration and all stocks management;
- Ensure the accuracy of financial data by using the existing management system;
- Coordinate the department activities and the subordinates duties;
- Evaluation, training and ongoing career development of employees in finance department;
- Collaborate with the finance team at the Malta Head Office;
- Carrying out any other task which may be reasonably required in this position.
Desired qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Master’s degree is preferable;
- Having completed at least CPA/ACCA intermediated level;
- A minimum of 5 years working in finance;
- Experience must comprise considerable familiarity with accounting, Stock and Inventory Management;
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English languages (written & oral), knowledge of French is an added value;
- Excellent organizational and audit skills;
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of staff;
- The ability to act as a leader and Team management spirit;
- A working knowledge of data management using various tools including the, Microsoft Word and Excel (advanced), and be able to use financial software reporting;
- Knowledge of Microsoft NAV/Business Central ERP is ana asset;
- Extensive knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards and Rwandan Tax law;
- Excellent organization and time management skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and overtime;
- Demonstrates the authority and sensitivity to manage staff.
