Position Overview

A prominent agricultural company is seeking a dedicated and experienced Sourcing Manager to oversee and coordinate an extensive network of Outgrowers. The Outgrower Manager will be responsible for managing Field Assistants, ensuring effective communication and support to Outgrowers, and optimizing the production and quality of agricultural products. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive agricultural knowledge, and a passion for working with local farmers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the network of Outgrowers, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve Outgrower productivity and crop quality.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and agricultural best practices.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of Field Assistants, ensuring they effectively support Outgrowers.
  • Provide training and guidance to Field Assistants on best practices and company protocols.
  • Monitor the performance of Field Assistants and conduct regular evaluations.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions for Outgrowers on agricultural techniques, pest and disease management, and sustainable farming practices.
  • Provide ongoing support and advice to Outgrowers to enhance their farming operations.
  • Develop educational materials and resources for Outgrowers.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Outgrowers, addressing their concerns and providing timely solutions.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor Outgrower activities and provide hands-on support.
  • Collect and analyze data on Outgrower performance, crop yields, and production quality.
  • Prepare regular reports on Outgrower activities, challenges, and achievements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in agricultural management, preferably with experience in managing Outgrower programs.
  • Proven track record of working with smallholder farmers and agricultural communities.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficient in data collection and analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Passionate about agriculture and working with local farming communities.
