To this end, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Career Coach to provide tailored coaching services to our staff members, assisting them in aligning their career goals with organizational objectives.
- SCOPE OF WORK
Objective: The Career Coach will support UNDP Rwanda employees in developing clear career paths, enhancing their skills, and achieving their professional goals. The coach will work closely with individuals to provide guidance on career planning, skills development, and work-life balance.
Major tasks: The consultant will be responsible for the following:
- Comprehensive Coaching Plan and Individual Career Development Plans:Develop a overall coaching plan and personalized career plans tailored to UNDP Rwanda staff needs, including strategies, objectives, activities and provide a timeline for coaching activities.
- Individual Coaching:Provide one-on-one coaching sessions to staff, focusing on career planning, development, and progression.
- Career Development Planning:Assist employees in developing personalized career development plans, identifying opportunities for growth within the organization and UN system.
- Skills Assessment:Conduct needs assessments to identify staff strengths, development needs, and potential career paths.
- Workshops, Training Sessions, and Mentorship Program Guidelines: Organize workshops and training on career development and create guidelines for a mentorship program.
- Workshops and Training:Design and facilitate interactive workshops on topics such as career management, leadership development, and work-life balance.
- Mentorship Program:Develop mentorship program guidelines and support the setup of the program within UNDP Rwanda.
- Feedback and Reporting:Provide regular feedback to the HR team on common challenges faced by staff and suggest interventions. Prepare monthly reports on coaching activities and outcomes.
- Resource Development:Develop and share resources such as career development guides, tools, and templates.
- Reports on Coaching Sessions with Key Insights and Recommendations: Provide regular reports on coaching sessions, participant progress, and recommendations for UNDP HR.
- Monitoring: Assess the effectiveness and impact of the coaching sessions and career development activities.

- INSTITUTIONAL ARRANGEMENT
- The consultant will be reporting to the UNDP Rwanda learning committee and senior management and will work with them to successfully deliver on expected outputs.
- The consultant should submit a report at the end of the assignment and accepted by the learning committee
- The coaching and training sessions will take place at the office in Kigali and UNDP will provide the space to use.
- He/she will be expected to use his/her own equipment and software to deliver the above
- DURATION OF THE WORK
The assignment is expected to take 15 working days spread over 2 months, from October to November 2024. The work modality will be in-person training (70%) and some sessions conducted online. (30%)
- DUTY STATION
The consultant will be expected to convene the in-person sessions at the UNDP offices.
- QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SUCCESSFUL INDIVIDUAL CONTRACTOR
Academic Qualifications:
- Advanced university degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Career Counselling, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Additional certifications or training in coaching, such as those from the International Coach Federation (ICF), Career Development Network, or other recognized coaching organizations is an advantage.
Years of experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in career coaching, organizational development, leadership coaching, human resources, or talent development.
- Experience working with international organizations/ UN system is an advantage.
- Experience in designing and implementing career development programs, conducting skills assessments, and providing one-on-one and group coaching.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating workshops, training, and development sessions focused on career management, leadership, and work-life balance.
Skills and Competencies:
- Coaching and Counseling Skills: Strong ability to guide individuals in career planning, development, and progression.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse clients.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to assess skills, strengths, and career aspirations to develop personalized career plans.
- Facilitation Skills: Proven ability to design and lead workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs.
- Adaptability: Capability to work with a diverse workforce and adapt coaching styles to different cultural and organizational contexts.
- Confidentiality and Trust-building: Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust with clients.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple coaching engagements and deliverables.
Language and Cultural Competence:
- Fluency in English is typically required, and proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Kinyarwanda (or another local language) can be a significant asset.
- Cultural competence and understanding of diverse work environments, especially within international or multicultural contexts.

- METHODOLOGY
The sessions will be conducted in person and will include various activities. The consultant will provide expert advice on the best methodology to achieve the intended objectives.
- CONFIDENTIALITY AND PROPRIETARY INTERESTS
The Individual Consultant shall not either during the term or after termination of the assignment, disclose any proprietary or confidential information related to the consultancy service without prior written consent. Proprietary interests on all materials and documents prepared by the consultants under the assignment shall become and remain properties of UNDP.
- SCOPE OF PRICE PROPOSAL AND SCHEDULE OF PAYMENTS
TheProposals must be expressed in Lump Sum Amount:
- The lumpsum amount must be “all-inclusive.” Payments will be made based on satisfactory performance in accordance with deliverables.
- The contract price is fixed regardless of changes in the cost components.
- RECOMMENDED PRESENTATION OF OFFER
