Through The BRIDGE Talent Services, we have connected hundreds of university graduates and young professionals with meaningful career opportunities in Rwanda and East Africa Building on this success, The BRIDGE is launching an exciting new initiative: The BRIDGE International Placement Program—a transformational opportunity for international students and recent graduates to gain professional experience in Rwanda. This self-funded program allows participants to contribute their skills, talents, and time to impactful organizations while immersing themselves in Rwanda’s vibrant culture and gaining invaluable international experience.

Program Overview

The BRIDGE International Placement Program facilitates internship and volunteer placements for international students and graduates in Rwanda. Our team provides comprehensive support, from matching participants with host organizations to oering pre-arrival guidance and on-the-ground assistance.

Objectives

  1. Connect international students and graduates with meaningful internships and volunteer opportunities in Rwanda
  2. Position Rwanda as a leading destination for professional development and global learning
  3. Foster knowledge exchange and cross-cultural collaboration by linking student volunteers with local companies
  4. Provide a well-rounded experience that includes both professional growth and cultural immersion

Services Offered

Internship & Volunteer Placement

  • Match participants with host organizations that align with their academic background, skills, and career aspirations.
  • Ensure that host organizations provide meaningful work experiences and mentorship.

Pre-Arrival Support

  • Assist with the visa application process.
  • Provide detailed guidance on living in Rwanda, including cultural norms, accommodation options, and safety information.
  • Offer travel support, including ight booking and transportation recommendations.

On-the-Ground Support

  • Airport pickup and comprehensive orientation upon arrival.
  • Ongoing assistance throughout the internship, including troubleshooting and emergency support.
  • Social and networking events to foster connections and enhance cultural exchange.

Post-Internship Certication

  • Provide certicates of completion and letters of recommendation upon successful program completion.

Fees and Payment Information

Program Fees:

  • Application Fee: $1,000 (non-refundable donation to Bridge2Rwanda)
  • Placement Fee: $1,500 (due upon successful placement)
  • Additional donations beyond the required fees are welcome to support Bridge2Rwanda’s mission.

What the fees cover:

  • Internship matching and placement
  • Pre-arrival guidance and visa support
  • On-the-ground orientation and assistance
  • Post-internship certication and recommendations

Participants are responsible for covering their own expenses, including:

  • Flights to and from Rwanda
  • Accommodation and daily living costs
  • Visa fees and health insurance

Internship Guidelines

Program Timeline

  • Application Period: February 26 – March 30, 2025
  • Matching Process: Applicants will be matched with employers by April 25, 2025
  • Start Date: Interns must be prepared to travel to Rwanda as soon as their chosen start date arrives

Internship Conditions

  • All internships are unpaid; participants should plan accordingly.
  • The BRIDGE will assist with securing aordable housing, though participants may arrange their own accommodation.
  • Internships last a minimum of six weeks and can extend up to 12 weeks. Extensions are possible with support from The BRIDGE and host organizations.
  • Monthly check-ins will be conducted to ensure a positive experience for both interns and employers.

Immigration Information

  • Participants should apply for a three-month visitor visa (apply via migration link here).
  • If an extension is needed, participants must notify The BRIDGE at least six weeks in advance for visa support.
